CHANGES TO THE APPOINTMENT SYSTEM
On 21st June 2010 we will be changing our appointment system following feedback from patients about their wish to be able to book appointments in advance more easily. From that date more appointments will be available for patients to book for the next day, 3 days ahead and one week ahead. Same day appointments will continue to be available for more pressing medical problems, but will no longer be used for routine matters. We hope that this will be of benefit to patients who like to plan their appointments to fit in with other commitments.
Once the new appointment system has been successfully established we will move towards offering appointment booking on the internet.
Please help us to maximise appointment availability for other patients by cancelling any unwanted appointments. This can be done by telephone (01753 541268 or 546088) or by text (07815 006 990).
MOBILE PHONE NUMBERS
It is becoming more and more important that the practice maintains an accurate record of mobile phone numbers for patients. New technology is reliant upon us having this information and will enable us to reduce the number of letters that we send out to patients. Hospitals are also keen to ensure that contact numbers are accurate to assist prompt appointment booking.
We now have a system whereby we can send automated reminders by text to patients about pre-booked appointments. We are hopeful that this will reduce the number of
patients who fail to attend their appointments and also reduce the manual administrative work that we carry out significantly. We can also let you know promptly of any unavoidable changes to your appointment more easily.
Please check that we have an up to date mobile phone number for you and
let us know if your number changes at any time. Information can be sent
via e-mail to Be-pct.magreception@nhs.net, by text to 07815 006 990 or by phone on 01753 541268 or 546088.
SWINE FLU VACCINATION

- Chronic lung disease (including patients with asthma who use steroid inhalers)

- All pregnant ladies
- Immunosuppression caused by a disease or treatment (people who do not have a spleen or people who are on immunosuppressant treatment or are taking steroids).
- People who live with someone whose immune system is compromised.
Children aged 6 months to 5 years are also now eligible for vaccination and will receive a half dose. Parents and guardians of children in this age group have been written to inviting them to attend the surgery.
